The apprenticeship program is intended to introduce people to injection molding with the long-term objective of becoming a Mold Maker and/or Tooling Engineer with Rain Bird Corporation. This position is a two-year/4000-hour apprenticeship with the requirement to enroll in Pima Community College courses as specified by Rain Bird Corporation and the guidelines of the Registered Apprenticeship.The Apprentice will gain the necessary skills and experience to:Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on injection molding tools.Repair and refurbishment injection molding tools.Assist and lead root cause investigations of injection molding tool problems.Assist setting up injection molding tools for production.Responsibilities:Identify mold issues, troubleshoot and recommend solutions.Set up and operate tool room equipment using very tight tolerances (surface grinders, milling machines, lathes, EDM, wire EDM, CNC machines).Knowledgeable in calculating shrinkage for resins.Ability to read and understand mold drawings, mold 3D designs, and part drawings.Perform mold repairs, fabrication of mold parts, engineering changes, and maintenance work per maintenance procedures and best practices.Maintain proper records of activities and time required to complete the given tasks.Provide verbal and written reports.Responsible for special projects as requested.Report to the tool room supervisor all matters requiring attention.Apply and use the safety procedures and devices required for accident prevention in all tasks.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:High School diploma or GED.Eligible to enroll in Pima Community College.Strong problem-solving skills.Experience with hand tools.Attention to detail and ability to work independently.Multi-tasking.Desired Qualifications:Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Machining knowledge/experience.Rain Bird is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
