Our Takapau site in Central Hawke's Bay is Silver Fern Farms' largest dedicated lamb processing site, employing up to 950 people at the peak of the season. Our Engineering team is in an exciting phase as we look to grow the capability of our team and implement a refreshed structure and processes that will enable us to continue to improve the service we provide while improving reliability at the site. We are looking for motivated and skilled Maintenance Fitters/Engineers to join our engineering team, who are crucial to keep our production running in a challenging, dynamic food production environment. You will be joining a team on the up and play a key role in implementing our vision for the Takapau site. Our site operates both day and evening shifts Monday to Friday, as well as occasional overtime on weekends. The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes: Relevant Trades Qualification (Level 4 Mechanical Diagnostics Engineer or Trade Qualified Fitter/Tuner) Good knowledge of sound engineering principles and repairs and maintenance procedures on a large industrial processing site - or a passion to learn in this environment. Ability to analyse problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner and communicate this with those around you. Be self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a tight-knit team of engineering specialists. Organised, with the ability to plan and prioritise workload in a challenging engineering environment. Desire to keep learning and upskill - be this in a leadership scope or dual trading into other facets of the production engineering environment. Comfortable being on a roster-based shift pattern in a red meat processing environment out of our largest site in NZ in the beautiful central Hawke's Bay. Previous experience in FMCG or transferable production engineering environments would be an advantage, but the key is the ability to work as part of a team and utilise your problem-solving skills to provide top-level service to the processing plant. Preferred candidates will have good interpersonal skills and an attitude for getting stuck in to get the job done as well as thinking outside of the box.
