Project Engineer

Join our team as a Project Engineer and play a key role in delivering capital and operational projects in the Water Utilities section.
You'll provide professional services for 3 Waters infrastructure, including project management, design, cost estimation, and contract administration.
This role involves overseeing renewals and preparing documentation to ensure the successful delivery of 3 Waters capital projects.

You'll recognise the importance of the role as a Treaty partner and understand how that underpins Gisborne District Council's work.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct site investigations, cost estimates, and project feasibility, while preparing engineering designs and resource consent applications.
Collaborate with operations, asset management, and other Council teams to coordinate Water Utilities projects.
Develop and implement project delivery plans, manage risks, and ensure contractors meet timeframes and standards, addressing issues as they arise.
Maintain clear communication with stakeholders, including the public, service providers, and affected parties.
Oversee Water Utilities projects from planning to completion, providing technical reviews and managing external project managers as needed.
Undertake stakeholder consultations throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with relevant processes and standards.
Minimum Requirements: At least 5 years' experience delivering construction projects.
Tertiary qualification in Engineering or similar.
Previous experience as Project Manager, Project Engineer or Design Engineer (desirable).
Computer skills at this technical level.
Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental best practices in construction.
Project management experience in the New Zealand construction sector.
Preparation of contract and proposal documents.
Experience as Engineer's Representative under NZS 3910 contract conditions.
Planning and implementation skills.
