Nga kawenga |About the role In the role of librarian, you will use a strengths-based approach that embraces manaakitanga and whanaungatanga as you support the reading, literacy and educational development of each Tane.
Operating a professional Library Service within our correctional facilityWorking to the National Prison Libraries Service Delivery documentProviding library services to all prisonersDevelop, coordinate and maintain library resources, including books, periodicals and learning resourcesPropose and manage an annual budgetProvide library information, reports and advice to the Learning and Interventions Delivery ManagerTrain and monitor prisoner Library assistantsEnsure security is maintained at all timesThis is a Full Time permanent role based at Otago Corrections Facility working Monday to Friday with some flexibility on hours worked.
You will be required to work effectively in a custodial environment - leading by example and maintaining professional boundaries.
By interacting closely with the men in our care along with internal and external stakeholders, you will collaboratively share information and ensure beneficial outcomes are achieved.
Key competencies you will demonstrate are:
A service focus - a helpful and courteous approach when dealing with othersAbility to communicate in a style appropriate to the recipient or audienceExperience working with Maori and Pasifika learnersA wide knowledge of books including those that may support varying levels of literacyThe ability to organise effectively, multi-task and meet deadlinesA high level of accuracy and attention to detailResilience in managing multiple stakeholders and the ability to adapt well to changing demandsA high level of proficiency in computer software and database systems including the Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)Preferably you will have experience using AccessIt library management systemThe salary range for this role is $68,661 to 72,911 per annum.
Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
