Our Legal team build relationships across the business to enable ACC's vision and strategy.Mo te turanga mahi | About the roleThis is a senior legal professional leadership and management role. The Legal Manager - Litigation reports to the General Counsel & Head of Legal, is a member of the Legal leadership team and manages a team of lawyers.The Litigation team is responsible for managing all of ACC's litigation (including claims and levies) that ACC is a party to in courts, tribunals and inquiries. They partner with the business to support continuous improvement of claims related decision-making and dispute resolution processes. The litigation portfolio is varied, including Scheme dispute resolution litigation, medico-legal, public, civil, commercial, criminal and coronial matters.As the Legal Manager - Litigation, your key responsibilities will include:Leading the litigation team to enable the delivery of high-quality legal representation in accordance with model litigant principles.Ensuring litigation is managed cost-effectively and consistently.Overseeing the engagement and performance of external counsel including through the management of ACC's Review and Appeals Panel.Working collectively to consolidate relevant subject matter expertise to enable informed decision-making.Continuing to build on our Centre of Excellence model and ensure alignment with ACC's 10-year strategy - Huakina Te Ra.If you want to lead the work of the ACC Litigation Team, work closely with ACC's General Counsel, and engage and influence across the organisation at a senior level, this may be the role for you. You'll be joining a team of dynamic, collaborative, and strategic thinking individuals in a supportive environment that encourages growth and development. You'll also gain business-wide exposure to New Zealand's unique Scheme and build strong relationships with key stakeholders and business partners.The successful candidate will need to be based in Wellington (preferred) or Auckland.Mou | About youTo be successful in this role, you must have extensive litigation experience as well as experience advising or representing a large, complex organisation, ideally including management experience at 4th tier level in a Crown entity, government agency or highly regulated large commercial entity (or equivalent).You will be a strategic thinker and people leader who can identify opportunities to effectively manage legal risk, support ACC's vision and strategy, and get the best out of your team.
