Job Description Small In-house Team of the Year - In-House Lawyers Association of New Zealand (ILANZ) – 2024 Due to an internal promotion, we have an opportunity to join our team as Legal Counsel. The Legal Counsel reports to the General Manager – Legal and Risk, and is responsible for providing high quality and pragmatic advice, and developing legal services and resources, to ensure Hato Hone St John manages its legal obligations and organisational risks. The Legal Counsel will advise on a wide range of issues, including: Regulatory & compliance issues Governance Privacy Qualifications Ko wai koe - About you: Law degree A track record of providing advice and managing legal issues within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, ideally with some in-house experience. Experience working in litigation is preferable. An ability to bring an understanding of 'best practice' and provide pragmatic and actionable legal advice to a wide range of internal clients. Strong analytical, attention to detail, and critical reasoning skills. Strong planning and organisational skills to manage disparate activities simultaneously.
