Position Purpose: The purpose of this position is to contribute to and enhance the learning and qualifications outcomes of Massey University's students and the scholarly programme of teaching, research and publication in the area of speech and language therapy, and to provide administrative and professional service to the university and the broader academic, professional and general communities.

Speech and Language Therapy at Massey University is the only distance education programme of its kind in Aotearoa New Zealand, offering comprehensive training in communication and swallowing disorders, blending theory with practical experience.

Accountabilities
Teaching
Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching via all modes of teaching and delivery mediums, including through electronic and on-line technologies.
Design and develop the academic and administrative content of courses and design the appropriate assessment criteria and processes.
Coordinate and administer the teaching delivery and assessment of all papers allocated from the University's Integrated Paper Programme (IPP).
Ensure that all teaching is research-informed and relevant, and that course materials are regularly updated.
Participate in the peer review of teaching to enhance the quality of course design and delivery.
Arrange for regular student evaluations of teaching for all papers/courses for which paper-coordination responsibilities have been assigned.
Be accessible to students by providing consultation time on course-related matters.
Engage in clinical tasks as required.
Research and Scholarship
Undertake an active and appropriate programme of academic research.
Publish books and papers and/or other scholarly works in academic journals and other publications.
Participate in and present research at academic conferences.
Seek research funding where there is an opportunity to do so.
Service
Participate in community service activities that further advance the profession or field.
Contribute to the broader community and society through the University's obligations under the Education Act.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications: Relevant PhD (or equivalent). Appointments made where the required qualification is close to completion will require completion within a specified timeframe as a condition of appointment.
Experience: Demonstrated teaching and research experience in a university or other tertiary teaching environment.
Experience in the use of electronic and on-line technologies in blended and distance teaching delivery.
Experience in Speech and Language Therapy.
