AUT has more than 27,000 students and over 4,000 staff, based primarily at our three Auckland teaching campuses.We are looking for a permanent, full-time Lecturer with a focus on research and teaching, as well as the exciting opportunity to make leadership contributions to the development and delivery of a new Earth System Science programme. You will:Teach second year courses as assigned by the Deputy Head of School and have an open, engaging and collaborative attitude that is flexible to changing requirements.Publish actively in your specialised field/s and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research.Seek external research funding, engage with business, the professions and the community, and contribute to School activities.Key skills and experience we are seeking:Qualifications: We are specifically looking for candidates with a PhD in Earth System Science or Built Science, and expertise in hydro-meteorological hazard prediction models.Research: Expertise in atmospheric processes that affect climate-related risks, and the use of artificial intelligence-based models for natural disaster risks mitigation. Candidates will have published in well ranked international journals and have an established pipeline of working papers.Teaching: at least 3 years of university lecturing/teaching experience is required.Further Information:Start Date: January 2025 (to be agreed with the successful candidate).Term: The successful candidate will secure a permanent, full-time appointment (37.5 hours per week).Salary ranges: Lecturer - NZD $89,007 to $105,929 (specific step within ranges commensurate with relevant skills and experience).For academic enquiries: Contact Associate Professor Kay Vopel, Deputy Head of School Science - ******.
