Te aheinga: The opportunity
At Unitec, our School of Environmental and Animal Sciences provides an environment supportive of teaching, applied research and industry/community engagement within a range of programmes from certificate to degree level. Facilities on campus include Te Puna Kararehe (Unitec's Animal Behaviour and Husbandry Centre), veterinary simulation clinic, molecular ecology laboratory, microbiology suite, greenhouse, growth room, butterfly house, herbarium and insect collection.
This particular role will have a focus on teaching and assessing theoretical and practical veterinary nursing skills, both in the classroom, and in our on-site simulation clinic.

He korero mou: About you
As a Lecturer in Applied Animal Health, you will teach and assess animal health courses predominantly in the Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing. You will be delivering high-quality classroom and practical vocational learning across this and other programmes within the School of Environmental and Animal Sciences.
You'll be able to demonstrate your commitment to excellence in learning and teaching, the provision of high-quality educational experiences for students, course administration, school and stakeholder engagement, and research.
You'll have:
An understanding or desire to learn te reo Maori, tikanga Maori, and the values and practices of kaupapa Maori.
Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments.
Excellent skills in developing relationships with students and academic and practice colleagues, and the ability to work in a team.
High-level communication skills, expertise in the use of Word and Excel and other database software and proven experience with academic policies, procedures and systems.
A relevant degree-level qualification in veterinary nursing, or similar.
Registration with the AVPRC/VCNZ or ability to obtain this.
Applicants must have a current full NZ driver licence.
