Nurse Maude is seeking an experienced support worker who would like to take the next career step. The position of Lead Support Worker will allow you to utilise your skills in a role that provides mentoring, training, and support to your colleagues. This role would also see you providing relief cover and expert assistance and support to clients in the community.
Te Mahi/About the Position
Lead Support workers are essential to our team, support workers, and clients. This role is 30 hours per week, based predominantly in the Nelson Tasman area, and will work collaboratively with the team, traveling across the wider Nelson Marlborough region as required to support other colleagues and meet service requirements.
Key Aspects:
Provide care and support to clients and complete client reviews as delegated.
Provide guidance and mentoring support to new and existing community support workers, including smartphone training and troubleshooting assistance.
Be fit, focused, and friendly in your approach, and confident in your ability as an experienced support worker.
Ideally have at least two years' recent experience working in the community as a support worker or similar.
Strong communication skills - excellent written and spoken English and basic numeracy.
Demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.
Work unsupervised.
Assist with workplace verification and competency assessment for support workers.
Support the community supervisor to complete annual appraisals of support workers, observing and providing feedback on client care.
Complete office-based duties, such as follow-up phone calls to clients and support workers who require additional support, making notes in the relevant systems.

To be successful in this role, you will:
A New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4), or similar.
Have a current and valid New Zealand driver's licence and have your own reliable transport.
Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
Be competent in the use of smartphone technology and computers.
