The Royal New Zealand Ballet is a company of dynamic dancers from diverse backgrounds and presents a repertoire of classic and contemporary works across Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally. We're currently looking for a permanent full time Lead Physiotherapist, based in our Wellington premises, reporting to the Artistic Director. This is a non-touring role, although some travel may be required. In this role, you will lead all aspects regarding physiotherapy for all dancers at RNZB. You will be responsible for ensuring injury prevention and management services are delivered to a consistently high standard in an efficient and safe manner. Day to day you'll be responsible for: Leading RNZB's Health Team with regular meetings, and further development of any team protocols, referral pathways and policy work as required. Dancer injury prevention and physical maintenance programmes. Input into load management of the dancers. Dancer injury management, including administration of all dancer injuries. Liaison with and referral to all practitioners involved in dancers' acute injury management. Developing general and individual dancer injury protocols as required. Understanding of the ACC claims process relating to acute injury and/or gradual process situations. ACC claim lodgment and invoicing from software provided by the RNZB. Liaising with relevant Sports Doctors and Orthopaedic surgeons for efficient and effective management of dancers' injuries. Ability to be on call when the company is performing at the St James. Who and what are we looking for? A DIP Phys or BPhy (or overseas industry equivalent) is essential. A minimum of 5 years' practical experience. Excellent manual therapy skills for all parts of the body. Experience with musculoskeletal injuries; diagnosis, referrals, and rehab management. Acupuncture and dry needling experience and ability to integrate these into treatments would be beneficial. Ability to progress treatments and rehabilitation appropriately.
