WHO WE ARE
Northgate Baptist Church ("Northgate") is a welcoming, Christ-centered community, passionate
about building connections and a sense of belonging. Our mission is to worship and love God in
all we do, love each other well, cultivate deep relationships as a faith community and nurture
spiritual growth that equips our people to fully engage in the mission of God. We are committed
to partnering with the Holy Spirit to bring renewal in our own lives, in our local community and
beyond. We see the importance of leaning to the next generation and exploring new and
innovative approaches of "doing" and "being" Church.
Northgate was established 19½ years ago as a church plant from Windsor Park Baptist Church.
Our church community has 185 members, with 130+ adults attending Sunday morning services,
an additional 45-60 attending our evening youth service and around 40 in our children's ministry.
We value inclusion of people from all backgrounds and experiences.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The lead pastor will provide spiritual, pastoral and operational leadership, fostering a deep sense
of community, spiritual growth and unity. The role involves leading a pastoral team in a Christcentred
church that values inclusiveness, discipleship, empowering the gifts of the Spirit,
community engagement and global mission.
The lead pastor will be a facilitator of others, able to empower and mentor staV and ministry
leaders. They will have commitment to being a collaborative and servant hearted leader. They will
be someone who is able to be curious, listen to others and facilitate a collective discerning of
where the Spirit is leading, encouraging all voices to be heard. They will also seek to discern
innovative and creative ways of being Church that is relevant to our changing community.
BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE
Someone who loves God deeply and has a sense of His calling to Northgate, our people and the
community in which we are based.

Theologically trained with an ability to teach and team lead an intergenerational and diverse
church.
Proven experience in pastoral leadership within a church setting with a focus on collaborative and
inclusive ministry.
Be a New Zealand citizen or have New Zealand residency.
