Full job description Use your spatial modelling, data science and product management skills Innovative, exciting and cutting-edge work Flexible working He angitutanga: The opportunity We are looking for a Lead Strategic Modeller with strong spatial modelling, data science and product management skills to join our Group Strategy and Chief Executive Office Directorate. Provide technical leadership for a high performing team responsible for the design, development, management, and operation of complex simulation models. These models are key to providing scenario-based advice for Auckland Council's decision making, particularly in the areas of land use and climate related modelling. Work with your team to co-develop a new strategic land use modelling system for council alongside a private supplier. Your role will be to lead that co-development for an industry-leading strategic modelling solution based around cloud technology, and the use of data science tools and design principles. He korero mou: About you If you have a genuine passion for land use modelling, urban and climate change issues, then this could be the next brilliant step in your career. With a qualification in Statistics, Engineering Science, Operations Research, Econometrics or a similar discipline, you are data savvy, and enjoy turning information into compelling narratives, both verbally and in writing. Your background shows that you are a seasoned data researcher with experience in advanced modelling techniques and have strong coding ability. You understand land-use, transport models or have an ardent desire to learn about them. We will value your strong relationship building skills and experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams. Most importantly, you are inherently curious and must have an interest in the future of Auckland's development and improving outcomes for our region.
