We have an important role to play in finding opportunities to better respond to Maori aspirations while delivering transport solutions in line with the Government Policy Statement. We can also contribute by working with Maori and other government agencies to support Maori to achieve their aspirations.The NZTA Maori Strategy "Te Ara Kotahi" provides strategic direction for how we work with and respond to Maori as the Crown's Treaty partner, and what this means for how we do business.In this position you will ensure that our Maori strategy is incorporated into our engagement with Iwi and provide advice and support across Te Toki Transport Services, particularly in the procurement area. You will seek out opportunities to provide thought leadership, strategy, and direction to our people internally. You will have clear oversight of the project development process and advise directly on how to deliver with Maori.As a member of Te Matangi, you will form strong connections and relationships across the team to ensure the right capabilities are applied to the work of Te Toki Transport Services. This integration across functional and subject matter expertise is essential to ensuring Te Toki Transport Services works together towards common goals in setting the direction for NZTA and understanding the impact of the agency's work and performance.Ko koe tenei | About youTo be successful in this role, you will bring:Extensive experience working with Maori and in Government in a lead capacityProven experience in leading, influencing and building credibility across a range of teamsExperience in developing and implementing strategy with Senior Leaders, particularly within the different team structuresGeneral understanding on how procurement works in central governmentProven experience in developing policies, practices, guidelines, and toolkits for engaging effectively with Maori to ensure NZTA is fulfilling its obligations to MaoriDemonstrated leadership ability in culturally sensitive situationsAbility to translate strategic concepts into priorities, plans and outcomes.You will have strong knowledge Te Ao Maori, tikanga and Te Reo Maori. You will also have strong knowledge of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.Ko wai matou | About usTe Waka Kotuia Engagement and Partnerships Group is accountable for leading effective agency governance, iwi and stakeholder engagement, customer communications, and regional relationships. We support the achievement of transport outcomes and the regional delivery of projects through effective marketing and communications, sound reputation management and community engagement practice, and strengthened central and local government partnerships.Te Matangi - Maori Partnerships is part of Te Waka Kotuia - Engagement and Partnerships and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of Te Ara Kotahi | Our Maori Strategy and its supporting action plan.
