Our Infrastructure Group plays a pivotal role in planning, designing, and implementing projects that support the growth and development of our region. Te Wero - The Challenge The Land Discharge Officer identifies potential sites for land discharge investigations, conducts inspections, assesses environmental impacts, and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure suitability and mitigate adverse effects on land and water resources. This role is crucial for advancing wastewater discharge to land within the district. The ideal candidate should possess: A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in environmental management or compliance, preferably within local government or consultancy. Proficiency in environmental management software, GIS, and data analysis tools. Strong understanding of New Zealand's environmental regulations, especially the Resource Management Act (RMA), and best practices for land discharge management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex information clearly. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in environmental impact assessments and compliance monitoring. Ability to conduct fieldwork and site inspections. Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities. Familiarity with local regulations, industry standards, and environmental requirements.
