Looking for staff from early September and then for upcoming summer period
We are a tour operator based in Taupo offering a variety of guided activities: kayaking, mountain biking & soon to be walking tours on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and other trails.
Our main activity is kayaking, but we are growing into the other outdoor disciplines and offer multi-activity tours that combine these.
We are looking for someone passionate about the outdoors, who wants to share their passion with others, and who wants to gain or step into the Office / Operations assistant role while guiding.
This role could be for someone wanting to enter the outdoors industry, or for someone with experience who wants to take on more responsibility and develop their knowledge of what happens behind the scenes in an outdoor adventure company.
This position will include:

Kayak guiding (mountain biking and walking optional)
Office / Operations assistant duties
Assisting with marketing & digital advertising
Kayak & Mountain Bike hire
Driving (including pick-up and drop off guests)
Occasionally assisting guides with trip preparation

You will need to be and have:

Good phone manners and interpersonal skills.
Good computer skills & knowledge – email, excel spreadsheet, word, & social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram).
Self-motivated, confident, friendly, and outgoing.
Have good kayak handling skills and previous experience.
Able to instruct others.
Can organize and work well within groups of people of all ages and nationalities and in sometimes challenging weather conditions.
Be flexible to work on call and weekends.
Have current first aid certificate necessary.
Full driver's License.

This position could suit someone who has:

Completed an outdoor institute qualification (certificate or diploma), or already has NZOIA or equivalent qualification.
Or someone who is already guiding, with some good experience.

Having an outdoor qualification is preferable, but not essential for some of these activities.
