Are you passionate about the wellbeing and safety of wahine, tamariki and whanau?Te Whare Oranga Wairua Maori Women's Refuge in Taupo is looking for a passionate and experienced social services advocate to join our amazing team. The key responsibility of this role is advocating and supporting our clients, ensuring the safety and security of our clients, and contributing to managing safe housing.A Kaitiaki role is one of support, listening, guidance and education. Our Kaitiaki must have a world view, be culturally aware and sensitive to all in our communities. You will possess a mature, positive outlook in an ever-changing, evolving environment. You are the person who provides the safe space and security for our clients for their time in our space.We work with many different cultures, ages, religious affiliations and diversity within our rainbow, takatapui communities.You must have excellent communication, listening and computer skills. A confident facilitator, you will lead programmes with our wahine and work in the community connecting with networks and building relationships to benefit our wahine and whanau.The right individual will ideally have:Sound frameworks or models of practice relating to issues of domestic violence, parenting, drug and alcohol and care and protectionPrevious experience in a social service agency working with vulnerable whanauExperience of working with wahine, whanau, hapu and IwiUnderstanding of Tikanga and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi PrinciplesA current Social Workers registration and or extensive experience in social servicesClear professional boundaries and a non-judgmental mannerBe highly motivated, positive, solution-focused, and a team playerFlexible attitude and 'can do' approachHigh level of self-awarenessAbility to multi-task and deal with competing prioritiesAbility to work in a fluid and sometimes stressful environmentApplicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visaPositive police vetting results under the Vulnerable Children's Act.This role is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, between 8.30am to 4.30pm, with rostered crisis line remunerated outside of your work week. Hours are to be agreed by both parties.
