Kaiarahi Whakatakatu Morearea, Torokiki hoki - Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity LeadNew Zealand GovernmentTe Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting Kaiarahi Whakatakatu Morearea, Torokiki hoki - Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Lead to join the Health, Wellbeing and Safety (HWS) team on a permanent, full-time basis.The role will be responsible for leading delivery of emergency preparedness and response as well as related systems (which includes all fire compliance).Key responsibilities:Maintain and continuously improve the University's Emergency Management FrameworkDevelop and review emergency preparedness plans and provide emergency management advice to staffDeliver an emergency management training, exercise, and maintenance programme to ensure staff and volunteers are appropriately trained for their roles and resources are ready for deployment when neededAct as Response Manager on the University Incident Management team during responses to major incidentsLead the fire function (FENZ relations, schemes, training, and stress testing)Support RT7 (Vic Rescue) to be operationally deployableO pumanawa - About youBe an emergency management professional with experience in developing and delivering training and maintaining operational readinessHave the ability to think strategically and adapt to prioritise workstreams relevant to current and arising emergency risksHave excellent relationship and communication skills, and the ability to coach others, including under pressure during incident responsesBe a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing teamNeed effective time management and forward planning to balance planning, advisory, and training services to staff at all levels of the UniversityBe able to remain calm under pressure and thrive working with a diverse range of stakeholdersThrive in this role if you are able to instill enthusiasm for emergency management in others, and able to build capability through providing advice and feedback, and through training and exercisingKey requirements:Expert understanding and experience of emergency management, business continuity and health and safety principles and practicesExperience in developing and delivering emergency management trainingOutstanding people and communication skills including the ability to adjust to different audiencesAbility to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholdersCapability to work as part of a team as well as having individual responsibilitiesThere is a lot of variety in the role, and we offer you flexible working arrangements and support learning and development opportunities.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to apply their emergency management advisory and training skills in a large, complex organisation which has a community of 25,000 people.Role description - Click here to see further information, including salary.
