Korero mo te turanga - About the role Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting Kaiarahi Whakatakatu Morearea, Torokiki hoki - Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Lead to join the Health, Wellbeing and Safety (HWS) team on a permanent, full-time basis.
The role will be responsible for leading delivery of emergency preparedness and response as well as related systems (which includes all fire compliance).
The role will work closely with the head of HWS and the team in the support of our community including training, process, and policy creation as well as stress testing.
Key responsibilities: * Maintain and continuously improve the University's Emergency Management Framework * Develop and review emergency preparedness plans and provide emergency management advice to staff * Deliver an emergency management training, exercise, and maintenance programme to ensure staff and volunteers are appropriately trained for their roles and resources are ready for deployment when needed * Act as Response Manager on the University Incident Management team during responses to major incidents * Lead the fire function (FENZ relations, schemes, training, and stress testing) * Support RT7 (Vic Rescue) to be operationally deployable O pumanawa - About you You will: * Be an emergency management professional with experience in developing and delivering training and maintaining operational readiness * Have the ability to think strategically and adapt to prioritise workstreams relevant to current and arising emergency risks * Have excellent relationship and communication skills, and the ability to coach others, including under pressure during incident responses * Be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well a contributing positively to a high performing team * Need effective time management and forward planning to balance planning, advisory, and training services to staff at all levels of the University * Be able to remain calm under pressure and thrive working with a diverse range of stakeholders * Thrive in this role if you are able to instill enthusiasm for emergency management in others, and able to build capability through providing advice and feedback, and through training and exercising Key requirements: * Expert understanding and experience of emergency management, business continuity and health and safety principles and practices * Experience in developing and delivering emergency management training * Outstanding people and communication skills including the ability to adjust to different audiences * Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders * Capability to work as part of a team as well as having individual responsibilities Etahi korero hai awhina i a koe - Why you should join our team Our team is a supportive, high-performing, tight-knit team that has good relationships with business units across the University.
