If you answered yes then look no further - we have a vacancy for a Manager, Finance based in Poneke, Wellington. Leading a team of Accountants and Accounts Payable professionals this role is about ensuring we run smoothly as an organisation, and meet our reporting requirements.
Te Puni Kokiri is the government's principal policy advisor on Maori wellbeing and development. We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for and with Maori. This includes our mandate to promote Maori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles.

As the Manager, Finance you will be a trusted advisor to the General Manager, Finance, Property & Procurement ensuring that we meet both internal and external financial reporting responsibilities. There is a leadership element to the position, building the capability and managing the workload of our accountants (both financial and management) and accounts payable kaimahi. You will:
Provide financial information and advice to Ministers, Executive Leadership and Budget managers.
Provide financial information as required in the Ministry's accountability documents and manage our financial reporting to requirements to Treasury.
Ensure that all financial information and advice adheres to the requirements outlined in the position description, including reporting standards GAAP & NZ IFRS.
Ensure our tax obligations are met.
A finance professional, you bring experience providing regular, timely, accurate financial information to senior and executive leadership. As a technical expert you have a varied financial skillset including:
In-depth knowledge and experience in preparing financial information and associated processes.
Up-to-date knowledge of financial reporting standards, including GAAP and NZ IFRS.
The ability to undertake complex financial analysis.
Knowledge and experience in financial management accounting systems and are very competent using technology.
Hold current ICANZ CA membership or an equivalent qualification.
Are comfortable working in an ao Maori environment, and in situations where tikanga is observed. Have a level of competency in te reo Maori or at least a willingness to learn.
