Guided by the Kawa of Purapura Whetu and Te Tiriti o Waitangi we ensure safe and professional practice, through clinical, cultural, and community support across our services to enhance the mana of our whanau.
Manu Ka Rere is a free service for young people aged 13-24 who are seeking support for their wellbeing.
We offer face to face counselling sessions, group work therapy, education and other activities.
Previously known as Community Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS), Manu Ka Rere is a collaborative of eight organisations across Canterbury.
These include Purapura Whetu, Odyssey House, Stepping Stone Trust, Ashburton Community Alcohol and Drug Service (ACADS), Community Wellbeing North Canterbury Trust, Waipuna, Te Tahi Youth and Christchurch City Mission.
The purpose of the role is  tofocus on providing professional team leadership and clinical oversight to Manu Ka Rere kaimahi to deliver best practices and ethical processes in the provision of service, care, and guidance to tangata whaiora that seek help.
The following attributes/skills are desirable: Demonstrated history of leadership, coordination, supervision and mentorship in a community setting Ability to converse in Te Reo Maori Cultural competency, immersion, appreciation, and awareness of Te Ao Maori Connections to local Kaupapa Maori networks and organisations and evidence of a commitment to Kaupapa Maori and Pasifika practice, knowledge, and skills Developed networks and relationships within the health, education and social services sector Experience working with CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) communities A thorough knowledge of the school and community based mental health system in Canterbury, child health services, general practice capabilities, NGO and school pastoral care networks Strong organisational and administration ability (accuracy, flexibility, and efficiency) Able to quickly form positive relationships A NZQA level 6+ qualification in a health-related sector (child and family mental health competencies preferred) The position would suit experienced practitioner with a background in health or social services, for individuals who hold a range of skills and qualities that includes: Being a natural and inspirational leader, who leads by example and demonstrates integrity with the proven ability to face hard decisions with confidence.
Exude enthusiasm and passion for the work you do that inspires and motivates your team to succeed and feel valued.
Awareness of Te Ao Maori at a basic level in workplace communications or a strong willingness to learn.
Ability to implement system and processes for assessment, intervention and risk management.
Effectively manage team processes, culture and wellbeing Effectively distribute information to your team and stakeholders with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people, lead meetings, maintain good documentation and plans.
Possess a good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how it applies to Purapura Whetu delivery of safe, fair practice.
The person must have: Current practicing certificate and membership to a professional body At least 24 months experience working in the field of Mental Health A commitment to participate in relevant professional development to ensure competencies are met Experience in child health or social support services Information technology and administration literacy Clearance under the provisions of Vulnerable Children's Act (2014) Current full driver's license Our culture We support and thrive on being an equal opportunity employer that understands equity, diversity, and inclusion allowing us to better serve our staff, our services, and our community.
