Job Description - Kaiarahi Visitor Host Mo te tunga | About the role
The Museum's vision is to engage New Zealanders in the stories of our soldiers and the history of our Army: to show how these have shaped our identity as a country and our place in the world; and thereby to help create a nation which understands and values its military dimensions.
Being a Kaiarahi / Visitor Host is an interactive front of house role allowing you to readily engage with visitors from all around the world as you proactively deliver guided tours and customer services. From the first welcoming greeting you provide through to the sharing of stories and bringing our history to life, this role will not disappoint you! You will have the opportunity to enhance your skill set by supporting the delivery of education lessons to school groups and kura and assisting with the development and delivery of a range of public programmes at the museum.
Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and Experience We are seeking a friendly, engaged host with superb customer service, communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working within a cultural heritage or tourism setting would be preferred, as would be a genuine interest and willingness to learn about New Zealand's military history and artefacts. The Museum is very proud of its bi-cultural history, therefore knowledge of te reo and tikanga Maori, or a willingness to learn will be advantageous. In this full-time position, you will be working for five days within a seven-day roster. Some weekend work is required.
Nou te rourou | What's in it for you Your skills and dedication deserve recognition, and NZDF delivers with competitive pay matched to your experience. But that's just the beginning – safeguard your loved ones with a fully funded life cover of up to $300,000 and critical illness protection. Other benefits include discounted additional insurances, free will services and savings schemes for the Defence community. Get expert financial guidance and mortgage broker services. Find all our benefits and more on the Force 4 Families website.
Me pehea te tuku tono | How to Apply Applications close on Thursday 29 August 2024. Use the links on this page where you'll be directed to the Defence Careers website.
Please Note: All applications must be made online, via the Defence Careers website. Each listing contains the Position Description and a Contact Us option for any queries or technical issues. Your cover letter will be a key part of our selection process, so please highlight how your experience relates to the key activities outlined in the Advert and Position Description. Applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug-screening test prior to any offer of employment being made.
