Mahurangi College is seeking an experienced, confident, and knowledgeable teacher for a full-time, permanent role starting term 1, 2025. This unique position combines a homeroom teaching role for Y7 or 8 students with the leadership responsibilities of a junior syndicate leader. The successful applicant will lead a team of 4-5 staff and classes, focusing on curriculum leadership, pastoral support, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Leadership and collaboration: Lead the Junior Syndicate, creating a collaborative environment and aligning teaching practices with Mahurangi College's knowledge-rich curriculum, emphasising scaffolded, whole-class instruction.
Curriculum leadership: Work closely with the Head of Faculty (HoF) on curriculum planning, pedagogy, and assessment to ensure high-quality, consistent teaching across the Y7 and 8 faculty.
Pastoral care: Provide initial pastoral support to students within the syndicate, referring complex issues to the Head of Year (HoY) and maintaining communication on student well-being.
Promotion of school vision: Actively uphold and promote the school's values and vision in all interactions, encouraging a culture of excellence.
Management of extra-curricular activities: Oversee syndicate trips, camps, and assemblies, and contribute to whole-faculty events that enhance student engagement and leadership.
