The Role
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on IT Team Leader to lead our technology operations and support the company's digital roadmap. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will lead a small team (comprising an IT Specialist and a Business Application Specialist) and play a crucial role in supporting Fern's IT infrastructure. While this is a Team Leader position, it demands a high level of technical expertise in system engineering and administration. You will manage our IT systems, including servers, networks, and applications, ensuring they operate securely and efficiently to meet our business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Mentorship : Manage, mentor, and support a small IT team to achieve objectives, working closely with the Business Intelligence Specialist to drive our Digital and Systems Roadmap.
System Management and Support : Proactively manage and support IT systems, tools, and services, collaborating with external service providers to ensure market-leading stability, reliability, security, and performance.
Project Leadership : Play a pivotal role in projects to optimise digital solutions and drive business outcomes. Lead cross-functional project teams with a focus on delivering exceptional project management and results for our customers, employees, and the business.
IT Infrastructure Management : Oversee IT infrastructure, including operating systems, software, hardware, networks, and servers, with a continuous focus on performance, security, and efficiency.
Monitoring and Recovery : Conduct regular system monitoring, troubleshooting, backups, and disaster recovery plans to ensure stability and minimize downtime.
Documentation and Compliance : Develop and maintain system documentation, manage access control, and ensure compliance with security best practices through regular audits.
Problem Solving : Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues to minimize disruptions to business operations.
Hours
Full time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
About You
Proven hands-on experience in a similar role
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Technical expertise with Microsoft 365, Azure, SharePoint, Active Directory, and cloud-based platforms
Proven experience as a System Engineer and or System Administrator
Experience with virtualization, cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure), and network protocols
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and data protection strategies
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and delivering outstanding project results
