Transpower owns and operates Aotearoa New Zealand's national grid — the high-voltage transmission network that powers the country. The critical IT systems built and operated by our Applications Services team, within our Information Services and Technology (IST) Division, are a key part of running the NZ electricity grid and electricity market in real time.

About the team The Transpower applications landscape includes various systems of record, such as Market Systems, SCADA, Transmission applications, Core Finance, Asset Management, HR systems, and key systems of engagement, such as Customer channel applications (CRM, customer portal), B2B integration, and mobile applications.

Our Application Services team is responsible for managing Transpower's portfolio of applications and their cost-effective and seamless integration to meet business requirements through:

Applications acquisition or development Problem resolution Additions and enhancements Application Services works under the guidance of Strategy and Architecture to deliver products in accordance with enterprise standards. The IT systems built and operated by our Application Services team are a key part of the ongoing planning, maintenance, management, and real-time operations of the national electricity grid infrastructure and the electricity market.

The Opportunity As a valued Commercial Analyst in our team, you will contribute your financial and commercial expertise to our Application Services leaders on procurement processes and commercial contract agreement preparation, review, and negotiation. You'll ensure a consistent approach in these areas through regular coaching and mentoring sessions, contributing to an overall improved level of commercial acumen.

Maintaining strong working relationships with your Finance Business Partner, Legal team, and Procurement Category Managers, you'll assist with the standardisation of processes contributing to the improvement of commercial and financial maturity across the division.

With a continuous improvement orientation, you will:

Enhance and standardise processes and documentation, leveraging diverse perspectives and best practices across the technology division. Peer review documents that go to the executive team. Support the Enterprise Applications and Commercial Manager across a range of business and commercial areas, including monthly and annual financial reporting. Ensure consistent management of related supplier contracts. Lead the Application Services Annual Budget preparation process. What will you bring? As an experienced commercial analyst, you understand the importance of building strong relationships within your team and across the business to foster collaboration and inclusivity. You will bring:

5-8 years of experience in financial and commercial roles, preferably within IT services. Strong commercial competence, including experience negotiating contracts. Proven financial acuity through budgeting, handling cost centre allocations, planning, financial reporting, and consolidations. Highly developed written and oral communication skills, including experience writing and editing at all levels (including Executive). Experience mentoring cost centre managers in related areas of expertise and responsibility. Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent extensive experience.
