UCG works closely with network operators to optimise the performance of their existing and planned infrastructure and to ensure that deployments are delivered fit for purpose and future proofed.Ko ta matou mahi - About the roleJoin our team as a ISP (Layer 2) Fibre Network Designer, where you'll be responsible for creating cost-effective network designs that meet UCG, Chorus, and New Zealand Standards. Your work will involve designing aerial and civil routes to buildings, as well as routing cables through eaves, roofs, and surface-mounted ducting or conduit on premise walls. If you have a keen eye for detail and a passion for efficient network design, we want to hear from you.Ko to mahi – What you will doWork with site scopers to define the best design solution for each buildingReview & audit survey documentation.Utilise client software (Netmap) to investigate existing networks and make design decisions.Create cost-effective designs adhering to Health & Safety using either CAD and/or PDF editing software (Bluebeam).Correct use of UCG and Client's systems e.g., SiteTRAX and iToolset.Obtain advice from experienced Designers, QA lead, Design Team Leader and the Design Manager as and when required.Produce high quality designs on the drafting software provided (currently AutoCAD).Review and Quality Assure surveys and designs prior to submission to Client (Chorus).Look to advance knowledge and skills through a commitment to training.Strive to improve the current systems and share your creativity amongst the team.Liaise with clients on a needs basis.Liaise with Site Managers and Field Managers on a needs basis.Liaise with construction Delivery Partners (Sub-Contractors) on a needs basis.Listen to feedback from coworkers and look to improve future designs accordingly.Be able to perform teamwork, troubleshoot and resolve issues relating to fibre design or capacity in the field.Contribute to the success of the design team by active participation in process development in fibre network design and construction.Na tou rourou - What you will bringGood experience in Design, preferably in the Telecommunications or Utilities fields.1 year or more experience in Layer 2 fibre network Design and/or rollout.Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel etc.).Highly effective communication skills (both written and verbal).Strong problem-solving skills.Intermediate to advanced use of AutoCAD and PDF writing software.Experience in NetMAPS will be an advantage.We are a passionate, diverse and inclusive team where to 'Empower By Creating Better Connections' is our stated purpose.
