Nga kawenga | About the roleDoes the opportunity to work on a breadth of challenging issues and test your thinking in a collegial and fast-paced environment where ideas and advice find real world implications excite you?As an Intermediate Solicitor in the Litigation team, you will work on a wide range of public law litigation matters, from applications for Judicial review to claims for breaches of the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act, to Coronial inquests and other proceedings before Tribunals and the Courts. You will advise on post-detention orders and myriad other issues that arise from the organisation's complex operating environment and the contested space between public powers and individual rights. In doing so, you will regularly engage in interesting and meaningful work, benefit from a commitment to values-based employment, and access ample opportunities for growth and development.As a member of the wider legal team, you will be working to help Ara Poutama deliver on its strategy – Hokai Rangi – which is focused on the pursuit of oranga, the wellbeing of people; to help ensure government according to law; to keep communities safe and to change lives.Successful applicants will bring:Demonstrated experience in litigation and public serviceHigh professional standards and a commitment to the rule of lawResilience, a sense of humour, and integrityExcellent communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive professional relationshipsAn analytical and enquiring mind, supported by an understanding of Ara Poutama's role and strategic directionThe midpoint of the salary range is $103,678 and the full range (85%-120%) is $88,127 - $124,414.
