Intelligence Analyst at Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington Type: Permanent
Hours: Full time
Location: Wellington
Business Group: Regulatory Services
Branch: Regulation and Policy
Salary: $71,406 - $95,771

Who we are:
Working at the Department of Internal Affairs, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of New Zealanders. The Regulatory Services Group leads and influences two key regulatory systems for Aotearoa. In the gambling system, we deliver community wellbeing through reducing gambling-related harms; and in the anti-money laundering/countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) system, we protect the trust in the financial systems of Aotearoa.
We are a responsive risk-based regulator focused on reducing harm, ensuring that iwi, hapu, and communities across Aotearoa are safe, resilient, and thriving.
The opportunity:
Due to a recent vacancy, we are looking for an Intelligence Analyst to join our dynamic and innovative Regulatory Intelligence & Insights Team in our Wellington office. This role involves the development of tactical and operational intelligence to support our operations and investigations teams across both regulatory systems. You'll also contribute to strategic intelligence products and help us develop and strengthen our intelligence systems and processes as the function evolves.
Key to your success in the role will be leveraging your intelligence analytical skills to undertake environmental scanning, trend identification, and risk profiling. Working collaboratively in teams, across the business, and with a range of partner agencies, your effective and influential engagement skills will also be important.
About you:
The experience, knowledge, and skills you will bring to this position include:
Prior experience as an Intelligence Analyst (minimum 1 year)
Excellent analytical skills, proven experience in providing effective analytical outputs, and the ability to exercise sound judgement
Experience leading the development of intelligence assessments and products
Strong and effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships across a diverse stakeholder base
A passion for continuous improvement, with strong planning and task prioritisation skills
Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences
Experience using i2 software is highly desirable
If you're looking for a new challenge that encourages you to think innovatively to help make a difference to Aotearoa and its people, then Internal Affairs could be the place for you.
We are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion. We recognise that a diverse workforce contributes to better business outcomes. We are committed to creating a workplace where all employees have equal access.
Note: You may be redirected to the employer's careers website.
