The team also provides day-to-day in-house legal services, works with government departments on projects of national significance, and understands the challenges of delivering to widening public expectations.About the role | Mo te turanga mahiReporting to the Legal Team Leader and supported by a stellar team, you will receive first-class mentoring to continue to build your legal career.
This interesting and challenging role encompasses complaints management (including litigation on appeal), general legal advice, and taking a role in other projects that arise.
Here are some examples of what you'll be doing:Managing engineering complaints received in a timely and professional mannerEffectively working with complainants and engineers to encourage the early resolution of complaintsProviding timely, practical and responsive legal adviceGiving interesting and varied advice on matters for Engineering New Zealand.Identifying issues and proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate riskProactively establishing and maintaining effective relationships with engineering employers and professionals.Who we're looking for | Ta matou e kimi neiIn this Wellington based role, you'll be a sound and trusted advisor who brings solid legal experience including:A Bachelor of Laws, or other comparable international qualification with the ability to practise law in New ZealandAt least 3 years of practical experience in the legal professionHolds, or is eligible to hold, a practising certificateSome experience and interest in litigationExemplary written and oral communication skillsOutstanding relationship management skillsEmpathy and pragmatismA collaborative approach to your workAbility to see the bigger picture.We want to hear from you if you think you can bring value to the role, not because you tick every box.
