He angitutanga | About the roleWe are recruiting for a Hut Warden/Ranger located at Anchorage and Bark Bay in the Abel Tasman National Park.
This permanent seasonal role involves working 4 days per week (32 hours) for 6 months every year.
The season dates are approximately 15 October 2024 – 02 May 2025.As a Hut Warden your duties will include: Providing helpful and clear information to visitors of all ages and from different backgroundsCleaning and maintenance of toilets, huts and campsitesMaintenance of tracks and structuresEnsuring fee compliance Being a Hut Warden/Ranger also involves living and working in the Abel Tasman National Park on a roster for up to 4 days at a time, including some public holiday work.
Please note you would be expected to be able to respond to emergencies such as medical situations as part of this role.
Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experienceIf you have the following, we are keen to hear from you: Be focused on service and providing visitors with an excellent experience Be a clear and efficient communicator Hold a current first aid certificate and driver's licenceHave practical outdoor skills (previous back country experience is ideal)Have the ability to work unsupervised in isolated field situations in a physically demanding roleHave the ability to work with various maintenance tools as required.
