Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley (CLWHV) is a registered charity providing free legal advice and assistance to those who cannot access other legal services in Wellington & the Hutt Valley. This work also includes the provision of free legal education in our communities, promoting law reform in the interests of our clients, and providing restorative justice services in the Greater Wellington region.We are looking for a Human Resources Manager to look after our Kaiwhakamanawa team and work with our General Managers and other Kaihautu (managers) on HR, office administration, and policy. The job is fixed term (due to maternity leave) and part-time (20 hours a week), and is based from our Wellington and Lower Hutt offices. This role would last 6 months from 27 January 2025-25 July 2025.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe primary responsibilities of the Human Resources Manager are:Kaihaututanga/Management of our Kaiwhakamanawa team: Supporting our team of 9 casual co-ordinators in both offices in their work supporting visitors to our office on drop-in sessions. Facilitating collective decision-making and supporting the team's professional development.Human Resources: Supporting CLWHV's recruitment, employment, and exit processes. This includes working with the GMs and other Kaihautu to deliver on the needs of tangata whenua in a Te Tiriti based context, as well as the needs of marginalised groups such as disabled people or the queer community in providing a safe and responsive work environment.Office Management: Supporting the day-to-day operations of both of our offices alongside our operations manager.The successful candidate will have excellent decision-making, relationship-building, communication, and planning skills. We are looking for experience in administration, literacy, computer literacy, and the ability to work within a community development model. Our constitutional goal of Treaty-based operations means they will also have a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi based partnership.
