Based in Rangiora and reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Advisor works as part of the wider HR Team to provide HR advice and support to the organisation. We're looking for someone to work closely with our managers and employees providing a variety of HR services and support that contribute to a positive work culture. You will have a good understanding of New Zealand employment legislation and passionate about building good relationships across a variety of stakeholders. About The Role The HR Advisor works closely with internal stakeholders in their portfolio to provide HR advice and guidance on internal policies, employment legislation, performance management processes and recruitment strategy. As a Local District Council our environment is reasonably complex and you will get great exposure to different facets of HR. You will be excellent at building relationships, seeing the bigger picture and have a knack for ensuring overall processes work smoothly and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Partner with stakeholders in your portfolio to provide expert HR advice and guidance on HR Policies, processes and performance management. Ensure compliance with employment legislation and organisational Policies. Draft contractual offers and variations with high attention to detail. Advice managers on performance management processes and development plans. Provide advice on simple restructure proposals. Review and write HR Policies. Add value to recruitment processes by advising on sourcing strategies and pro-active candidate sourcing. Support recruitment processes by participating in interviews and provide input on hiring decisions for Team Leader positions. Ensure WDC facilitates a great onboarding experience, facilitate Exit interviews as part of the off-boarding process and report on trends. Support HR projects as required. Review, draft and size (SP10 methodology) position descriptions. About You You'll have a strong work ethic and a flexible approach to finding solutions and efficiencies. Being a great team-player, you're keen to turn your hand to new things to help out. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritise your work as appropriate. You have an excellent customer-service attitude when interacting with our managers and employees that reflects a positive can-do attitude. You can apply a continuous improvement mindset and enjoy considering how we can make our HR processes more effective and efficient. Skills & Experience 2 years proven Generalist HR Advisor experience. Knowledge of the employment lifecycle and NZ employment legislation Ability to interpret, review and write HR Policies Strong communication skills including the ability to persuade and influence Sound writing skills and the ability to write for specific audiences, and confident presentation and/or training delivery skills Technology savvy, with a focus on continuous improvement Strong experience with Microsoft Office suite The rewards for this position include a competitive salary package designed to attract the right person to join our team, great working conditions and a very supportive and friendly team environment where you really can make a difference.
