Join our team as an HR Assistant and play a vital role in shaping our crew!You'll be in the thick of it, conducting interviews, hiring festival teams, and supervising volunteers on-site to create an unforgettable experience!

This full-time, temporary position will primarily work at our head office on Baker St. in beautiful Nelson, BC. Position Dates: Late January/early February 2025 – September 12, 2025. Festival Site Work:The successful candidate will also be required to work on-site at the festival locationnear Salmo, BC for about 1 month in July 2025. The HR Assistant will assist with recruiting, hiring, facilitating communications, supervising volunteers and day-to-day operations to support efficient operations of the organization's Human Resources department.

Roles and Responsibilities: Assist the HR department with the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, sourcing candidates, conducting online interviews, making job offers, sending and receiving contracts and agreements. Address employee concerns, grievances, and conflicts in a fair and confidential manner. Build, assign, amend and manage employee schedules efficiently using various software. Supervise and problem-solve for HR volunteers as they complete tasks, check crew members into the festival site and issue credentials to ensure accuracy. Assist new crew members in filling out paperwork and identifying missing or incorrect paperwork. Answer emails and field general inquiries from crew. Provide clerical and administrative support to the Human Resources team in tasks, and taking on excess workload as needed Assist with the organization and implementation of training materials for all crew. Execute and display a welcoming, friendly demeanor at each point of contact. Identify and prioritize communications and responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Above average computer skills and experience using Google Sheets, Docs & Gmail. Ability to quickly learn new software. Experience with festivals and events is an asset. Organization and analytical thinking skills are necessary for this role. Good verbal and written communication skills. Previous work experience as an HR Assistant or similar role is an asset. Previous supervisory experience is an asset. Certification in Human Resources Management or relevant fields is an asset but not required. Motivated individual who is driven to complete tasks and succeed. Meticulous attention to detail. Outgoing personality and a team player. Courteous, competent, and persuasive. Be a clear communicator. Flexible and able to respond to changes in working conditions. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion. Patient in performing repetitive tasks. Strong time management & critical thinking skills. Ensures compliance with all HR policies. Ability to work in a culturally diverse work space without personal judgments or bias.
