Do you want to make a positive difference to the protection of New Zealand's border from serious threats, the facilitation of legitimate trade and travel, and the collection of customs and excise revenue on behalf of the Crown?We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join the People and Capability team.
This role will be primarily based at the Auckland Customhouse, but will require the incumbent to work out at the Auckland Airport and the Auckland Air Cargo Inspection Facility on a regular basis.To be part of the People and Capability advisory team, we are looking for a real Go-Getter, someone that has previous experience working in an HR Generalist role and supporting people leaders in employment and disciplinary matters.
You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy the challenge of providing quality and consistent advice and support to managers and employees.
This is an important role, which requires a high level of relationship management.
In addition, you will be confident, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have strong attention to detail.Some of the key duties of this role include:Responding to general HR inquiries on topics which include the full breadth of the employee lifecycle;Advising managers on HR policies and processes;Assisting both people leaders and the HR Advisory team with employment relations issues and disciplinary cases;Providing quality assurance on contracts and letters;Supporting the wider HR Advisory team.We would love to hear from you if you have the following:3-4 years' experience in the management of employment and disciplinary matters.Experience in a unionised working environment.Quick to pick up new systems and be proficient at using all applications within the Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong and effective relationships.Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Experience in working in the public sector environment would be an advantage.What we offer at NZ Customs:At Customs, we aim to create a great place to work, where our people have a sense of belonging and the capability and desire to meet our future challenges.

Due to the nature of Customs work, you must have a clear Police record.
