Want to prepare beautiful food while using the freshest ingredients? This is your opportunity to join our Food Services team! This role requires leadership and excellent communication skills. The position is 32-40 hours per week, must be available Sunday through Saturday, some evening and weekend work may be required.
SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 3 years' experience in all aspects of high-volume food production.
• Red Seal certification is an asset.
• Food Safe Level 1
• Ability to produce a diverse menu from all cultures.
• Produce products for individuals with dietary restrictions.
• Employ skills of the Garde-Manger in all aspects of preparation.
• Excellent communication skills & ability to collaborate with all staff.
• Ability to perform well under production deadlines.
• Positive, solution-oriented attitude.
DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service.
• Oversee and participate in the execution of the menu plan prepared by the Manager for all hot programs, including roast chickens, frozen entrees, and frozen soups.
• Prepare cooked components for other programs (e.g. proteins for sandwiches, salads, wraps and burritos).
• Co-ordinate use of hot line production equipment with other kitchen programmes.
• Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.
• Ensure sanitary practices for food handling, cleanliness and maintenance of the kitchen, service and merchandising areas.
• Ensure compliance with operational standards, Kootenay Co-op policies and provincial health regulations.
• Provide direction and instruction to Cooks, Prep Cooks and Clerks as needed.
• Estimate food needs, give order lists to Food Services Manager or Assistant Manager in a timely manner to ensure product is available for production requirements.
• Ensure exceptional customer service in all areas.
• Respond to customer feedback and take appropriate action when necessary.
• Participate in recipe development.
• Ensure all product signage is accurate.
• Other duties as required
