Scientist - Cell/Molecular Biologist Seafood Processing & Marine Products Seafood Technologies Nelson, New Zealand Permanent, Full-Time (38 hours per week) Vacancy number 56725 Salary range $78,000 to 108,000

We're looking for a passionate scientist to drive advances in supporting the health and welfare of our fish in traditional aquaculture while also exploring new and novel aquaculture through cellular agriculture.
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of developing innovative applications for fish cell lines, paving the way for enhanced aquaculture practices and breakthrough alternative protein solutions. With hands-on research, collaboration, and leadership responsibilities, this position is perfect for a dedicated individual with a PhD in molecular or cell biology and experience in cell culture, molecular techniques, and data analysis. What you will be doing | Nga whainga matua

Conduct research in fish cell biology, including cell isolation, culture, and characterization.
Develop and test new applications for fish cell lines to address aquaculture challenges.
Analyse experimental data, compile results, and independently evaluate findings.
Prepare peer-reviewed publications, funding proposals, and client reports.
Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and support R&D projects.

What you will bring | Nga tino pukenga me nga wheako

PhD in molecular or cell biology (or related field) and hands-on experience in cell culture and advanced molecular techniques, including expertise with fish or vertebrate cell models.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communicator, collaborative team player.
Commitment to sustainability, animal ethics, and cultural sensitivity.
At least 2 years relevant work experience preferred - ideally in an R&D environment, with a track record of publication in peer reviewed journals, presentations, and/or patents.
