The Dowse Art Museum is looking for friendly, motivated, hard-working people to join our Front of House team on casual contracts.
About the role We currently have several casual roles available.
Our Hosts are the welcoming and informative face of The Dowse Art Museum and Petone Settlers Museum.
The role of the Host is to create an inviting and positive experience for all visitors and customers by: The first point of contact for all visitors - providing information and assisting with queries Helping customers in our retail stores.
Our museum shop stocks many local artists, and it is your job to sell these amazing products Assisting venue hire clients and ensuring the smooth running of events and functions.
Setting up and unpacking furniture for functions Assisting with the Museums public programmes and events and giving tours of the galleries Some evenings and weekend work will be required Duty managers license is desirable Retail or hospitality experience is desirable About You To succeed in this role, you will have a passion for customer service and retail, enjoy creating a positive environment for others, and thrive on working as part of a team with strong values and objectives.
You will be able to be on your feet much of the day and be able to lift and move furniture etc.
You will need to be computer competent as you will use our retail sales system etc.
The Dowse team is close-knit, skilled, and enthusiastic.
Your work will be diverse, and we work hard to provide good career and skill development opportunities for our staff.
Casual hours are on call and include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The shifts are mainly weekend event/functions, on call weekend cover or weekday evening functions or holiday cover.
