Hospitality & Catering Assistant

This is not a role where 2 days are the same. Working in a fast-paced environment, your role focuses on providing high quality kitchen support services on ensuring smooth operations and food delivery to both our patients and our onsite Aroha Eatery.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Aroha Eatery Barista during peak times.
Engage and work with volunteers in the kitchen and Aroha Eatery.
Ensure cultural requirements of all patients are catered for.
Maintain quality, presentation, and portion size requirements for each patient.
Ensure patients with food allergies and intolerances are safely catered for.
Support Aroha Eatery seasonal promotions and revenue-generating events if required.
Foster open communication with our team to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner.
Prepare meals according to Totara Hospice's recipes to maintain consistency in meal quality and presentation.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about making a difference, is a team player and strives to work under pressure. You are confident and committed to continuous improvement and have great attention to detail. You will have:
Basic food preparation skills.
Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety.
Clear understanding of food hygiene safety practices.
Experience working in a kitchen/ food service environment.
Ability to multitask across several food preparation areas.
Awareness and understanding of multicultural food preparation and delivery.
Resourceful and creative in handling food-related challenges.
Good people skills and ability to build relationships.
Effective communication.
