Inspired by the area's stunning natural beauty and the Council's visionary approach to the future, we're excited to welcome a new Horticulturalist to our team on a permanent, full-time basis.About the roleReporting to the Team Manager and working closely alongside other individuals, you will be responsible for general garden maintenance with the Public Gardens and across multipleother sites across Oamaru.
From planting and pruning to weeding and vegetation control, your work will ensure the gardens remain pristine, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.Key Responsibilities:Deliver exceptional garden maintenance, adhering to client specifications and garden plans.Source plants and materials, ensuring planting aligns with guidelines and individual plant requirements.Oversee the daily operations of assigned sites within the contract.Mentor and guide trainees and team members, fostering a cohesive and efficient work environment.Maintain open communication with the Team Manager, addressing any garden or planting concerns promptly.Prioritise safety, compliance, and quality management in all garden-related tasks.About YouOur ideal candidate will hold a Level 4 National Certification in Horticulture, be GrowSafe certified and have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
Other experience and skills we seek include:Holding a valid, full driver's license with manual driving capabilityDemonstrating extensive knowledge of plant species and their maintenance requirementsProficiency in accurately following and implementing gardening plansExhibiting strong interpersonal skills, capable of addressing public inquiriesDisplaying a proactive attitude, always ready to assist others efficientlyA desire to become a mentor and is keen to teach and support othersWhat We're OfferingAs part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with other professionals, gain further knowledge and experience, and develop your career in horticulture.
