Sport Bay of Plenty is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Healthy Active Learning Advisor based in Rotorua. Working in a fun, collaborative and supportive team, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of physical activity and well-being in schools and kura.Healthy Active Learning is a joint wellbeing initiative between Sport New Zealand and the Ministries of Health and Education. The aim of Healthy Active Learning is to assist primary and intermediate schools and kura create healthy, active school environments by supporting school leaders and teachers to:Better plan and implement the Health and Physical Education and Hauora Curriculum.Identify and develop opportunities for quality physical activity experiences for tamariki (ages 5 – 11).Advise on how to establish healthy eating and drinking practices.Working alongside another Healthy Active Learning Advisor, you will work into 38 primary and intermediate schools across the Central Bay of Plenty to provide support to schools and kura to understand the value of the health and physical education curriculum as well as advocating for quality school and community play, sport and physical activities outside curriculum time. You will work closely with principals, senior leaders and teachers of primary and intermediate schools and kura to provide advice and customised support.This role influences through relationships, so first and foremost we are looking for someone who has the mana and experience to build brilliant relationships with school staff, teachers and tamariki.The successful candidate will:Hold a relevant tertiary qualification, in education, sport/recreation / community sport / development or have;Experience, knowledge and understanding of the operating models in primary and intermediate schools and/or kura; andExperience in designing and facilitating professional learning and development opportunitiesKnowledge and understanding of how the sport and education sectors interact to deliver PE, sport, active recreation and play opportunities for tamarikiExperience in planning, coordinating and implementing quality play, sport and physical activity opportunities and experiences for tamaraki.Regular travel throughout the Central Bay of Plenty region is required so applicants must hold a drivers licence.
