We are looking for additional support for our Chorus Business Resilience Team who look after Health & Safety, Business Continuity and Quality Management.
Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The Opportunity
As the Health & Safety Advisor, you'll be the go-to person for all things health and safety, serving as a crucial resource for employees at all levels. In this role, you'll work closely with our operational and people leaders, providing practical advice on Health & Safety best practices and making sure we're in line with all the relevant laws and regulations.
You will be focusing on our asset management maturity journey; this role is critical to provide business partnering, advice, support & capability to ensure implementation and management of effective safety plans, systems and assurance over our property and network assets.
In this role, you'll assess our current Health & Safety practices and identify areas where we can improve. You'll keep up with industry trends and changes in regulations, helping our property and asset leaders understand how these affect their teams and operations, and your insights will be key in shaping our approach to Health & Safety, fostering a culture of proactive risk management.
You'll also dive into creating and refining operational documents like safety protocols and training materials. Collaborating with different departments, you'll contribute to annual plans that tie into our business strategy, ensuring our Health & Safety goals support our overall objectives. This focus on continuous improvement will help us create a safer, more productive workplace.
Your expertise will also extend to conducting training sessions and workshops, equipping employees with the knowledge and skills they need to prioritise safety in their daily activities. By promoting open communication and a sense of accountability, you'll empower everyone to take ownership of their role in maintaining a safe work environment. Overall, your role as Health & Safety Advisor will be pivotal in ensuring that our commitment to health and safety is woven into the fabric of our organisational culture, leading to enhanced performance and well-being for all employees.
O Wheako, o Pukenga | Your Experience
Success in this role hinges on your positive attitude and eagerness to learn! While your mindset is key, we are also looking for someone with the below experience:

A New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 4) or working towards this qualification is highly desirable.
Proven experience (3-5 years) in Health and Safety within a large, complex organisation.
Strong influencing and engagement skills, particularly with operational management.
Technical writing experience related to Health and Safety documentation.
Strong ability in developing, coaching and mentoring internal stakeholders in Health and Safety responsibilities and good practice.
Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
Expertise in delivering Health & Safety technical and legal advice for a large and complex organisation with a similar risk profile.
Experience in overseeing or leading high potential incident investigations.

An integral part of this role is connection to what is happening out in the field so this role will include some travel across the motu.
