The role is at the heart of primary care within general practice and is committed to the health and wellbeing of individuals, groups, and whanau of all ages.Location and HoursThis is a permanent, part-time role, covering the South Canterbury region (Twizel, Geraldine, Timaru, Temuka, and Waimate).
We are open to having more than one person fill this 0.7 FTE vacancy and we ask you to please detail your preferred working hours/FTE in your application.About YouAs an experienced support worker, the successful applicant will be working within General Practice as an integrated team member, assisting clients gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become active participants in their own care.
All this is so that clients can reach their own self-identified health goals.The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to carry out the intervention sessions and the associated reporting.
Teamwork and relationship management are also critical to success.If you are passionate about contributing to a multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare, this moment is yours.
Applicants will have completed the level 4 certificate in mental health support work and addiction or a recognised equivalent qualification for this role.A current full driver's license is also essential for this vacancy given the community-facing nature of the role.Specific Health Coach training will be given as part of this role.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
