About the Role:
We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our dedicated Renal Ward team. In this part-time, permanent position, you will work 72 hours per fortnight. The position is located in Ballantyne House and the role will be crucial in assisting the nursing and renal physiologist staff and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the ward. In addition to helping patients with daily activities to maintaining a clean and safe environment and being an integral part of the patient care experience, you will be trained to do some technical tasks related to dialysis equipment and inventory management. Our Renal service specializes in providing comprehensive care for patients with kidney-related illnesses, including those undergoing dialysis and other renal treatments. As part of our team, you'll be working with highly skilled healthcare professionals, including nurses, renal physiologists, doctors, and other allied health staff, all committed to delivering high-quality care. About you:
To be successful in this role, you will:
Have a genuine passion for working in healthcare and improving patient outcomes
Be comfortable assisting patients with daily tasks such as feeding, mobility, and hygiene care
Demonstrate empathy, patience, and the ability to maintain professionalism in challenging situations
Have strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, their families, and your colleagues
Be adaptable and open to learning new skills and procedures as required
Have flexibility in your schedule to work
Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential, as full training and support will be provided to the right candidate
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
