Health Care Assistant - Assessment Acute Unit Location: Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital

Contract: Permanent, 60 hours per fortnight/ 8 hour shifts (0.75FTE)

About the Role: We are on the hunt for a Health Care Assistant to join our team in the Acute Assessment Unit. If you have a desire to help people, an enthusiastic nature and are fit and active then this role is for you! Your new role will include providing clinical, technical and clerical support to the nursing team and other professional staff working within the multidisciplinary team, and to ensure and prioritise a focus on patient safety and quality care. Applicants must ideally have recent health care experience and a passion for working with and helping people.
About the Team/Service/ Location: The Acute Assessment Unit team are a passionate, progressive and innovative bunch who are continually trying to find new ways to better serve the needs of our community. We are a fast-paced, high-turnover medical assessment unit. There is also opportunity to work in our Medical Day Unit.
About you:
Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar role within a hospital setting.
A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Basic understanding of medical terminology and patient care practices.
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
