Murchison is a rural service town, with a permanent population of approximately 1100, located halfway between Nelson and Westport (1.5 hours travel in either direction).
Murchison Community Hospital and Health Centre provides an integrated service of Primary Health, In-Patient and PRIME care. The Health Centre has 5 day a week GP or Nurse Practitioner clinics alongside daily Registered Nurse clinics. The hospital has 6 aged care beds and 2 flexible beds. The flexible beds allow for assessment and observation, respite, palliative and rehabilitation care.
As a Health Care Assistant you will be part of a dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work within the team assisting nursing staff in care delivery, one to one patient watches and other tasks as directed by nursing staff.
Availability to work across a variety of shifts, sometimes at short notice, is essential. Shifts are 8 hours in duration, Monday to Sunday, AM, PM and Nights.

We are looking for applicants who have a mature outlook and the ability to get on with a wide variety of people. Previous experience in a hospital or aged care environment would be an advantage; however, training will be provided.
Qualifications
Essential
Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)
NZQA level 3 qualification (or equivalent)*
Desirable
Home Carer Certificate (or equivalent)
The full-time equivalent salary range for this position is $58,100 - $68,309 based on the current NZNO Nursing and Midwifery MECA, dependent on skills, experience & relevant qualifications.
