Your new role / He whakamarama mo te turanga mahi This utilities' provider has some exciting new projects on the horizon, and this role will play an integral part in keeping Auckland's communities safe, healthy and successful by shaping the future of the drinking water supply. The Head of Water Planning will lead a team of dedicated water professionals, including Team Leaders, Planning Engineers, Project Managers and Planning Consulting Partners, to construct our water supply blueprints and kick-off the delivery of our capital solutions.
Working closely with our Chief of Strategy and Planning, you will engage with industry partners, internal teams, Auckland Council, local boards, community groups, customers, and various regulatory bodies to develop the future of our drinking water supply. You will establish the direction for our Asset Management Plan (AMP) and define the programmes and projects that will be delivered over the next 30 years.
The variety and scope in this role is extensive! Working to deliver water systems planning leadership, while working within complex operational and capital budget environments. You will be responsible for:
Developing detailed water networks and water treatment plans. The blueprints for Auckland's water supply systems.Launching the delivery of AMP projects, delivering the feasibility activities, optioneering, early phases of design.Production of high-quality business cases for water infrastructure.Working to enable the organisation's achievement of growth, levels of service and renewals focused objectives. What you'll need to succeed / Nga pukenga e rapu nei matou (About you) You are an exceptional leader who has a proven background in infrastructure leadership, and are a strategic thinker who can see the big picture.
You are driven to deliver successful outcomes for communities and disciplined in your approach to managing programme and project delivery.
Your background will include:
Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent professional qualification (Mechanical / Process / Civil Engineering or similar discipline)Specific experience as a Water Industry People Leader with over 10 years of experience managing large teams undertaking complex works.Experience developing long-term plansManagement of infrastructure strategy/planning investigationsPreparation of complex, future focused business/asset management plansProven ability to lead business and infrastructure delivery programmesExemplary verbal and written communication abilitiesA knowledge of New Zealand's water industry regulatory environment is desired What you'll get in return / Nga hua mou (What's in it for you?)
