Head Of Guidance

We are seeking a suitably qualified guidance counsellor or psychologist to work with our Deputy Principal to lead our well-being team (nurse, community support worker, 24/7 youth workers, Kaitiaki, PB4L team) commencing at the beginning of the 2025 school year.Ideally you will:Hold a current membership or provisional status with NZAC or similar professional bodyBe a registered teacher with a current practicing certificate (preferred but not a prerequisite)Have an understanding of school systems and contexts and be able to contribute to the decision making of the wellbeing teamAcknowledge and respect diversity of culture, gender, age, disability, religion and sexual orientationHave the experience and capacity to work autonomously with the support of the wider wellbeing teamBe a skilled communicatorHave the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff and studentsBe familiar with wider youth services and agencies for referral and support.The successful applicant is expected to hold individual and group therapeutic interventions but classroom teaching is not required.
