About the role:
As an integral part of Latitude's NZ team, you will take the lead and actively contribute to providing Line 2 compliance advice and overseeing activities for the New Zealand business. Your role will involve being an influential and dynamic collaborator with Line 1 stakeholders, assisting them in attaining their strategic objectives in compliance with regulations.
Your expertise will extend to navigating a hybrid work environment, where numerous stakeholders operate either remotely from home in New Zealand or are situated in Australia. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a robust risk and compliance culture within the business, serving as a senior leader on-site in New Zealand.
In this role, you'll:
Leadership

Represent Compliance as a member of the New Zealand site leadership group and Line 1 risk forums.
Provide day-to-day leadership to support effective compliance and risk management by Line 1 teams and ensure adequate prioritisation and focus on compliance issues.
Appropriately escalate material issues to senior Risk and Line 1 executives.
Hold the position of New Zealand AML/CFT Officer.
Be an active member of Latitude's Enterprise & Operational Risk and Compliance Leadership Team and support the Tribe's objectives and team engagement.
Lead the New Zealand Compliance team.
Be an active and visible leader across the New Zealand site.

Regulatory Change and Relations

Advise and provide guidance to Line 1 teams across Australia and New Zealand on the New Zealand regulatory environment and regulatory changes.
Act as Latitude's primary contact point for New Zealand regulators, including managing any regulatory reviews and investigations in partnership with Line 1.
Oversee maintenance of statutory registers and reporting portals including FSP, DIA and Commerce Commission, ensure regulatory reporting is prepared and submitted in accordance with required timeframes.
Proactively lead engagement/representation of Latitude with the Financial Services Federation and customer advocacy groups.

Compliance

Ensure a commercial, balanced approach to regulatory compliance.
Ensure Australian stakeholders are aware of, understand and appropriately take into consideration New Zealand regulatory requirements.
Determine appropriate responses in relation to compliance breaches and regulatory issues in consultation with relevant Line 1 stakeholders.
Provide BAU compliance advice and guidance to, and review of, Line 1 product, marketing and operations teams to ensure processes and controls achieve desired compliance outcomes.
Ensure appropriate compliance training is in place to support responsible lending outcomes and regulatory change.

About you:

Extensive hands-on experience and practical knowledge of CCCFA, Fair Trading Act, Privacy and other regulatory requirements relevant to a New Zealand financial services entity are a must.
Strong compliance and risk management capabilities are essential.
Legal qualifications and experience strongly desired.
A highly collaborative approach to problem solving is essential.
Experience and practical knowledge of credit card and personal loan products, and operational environments are preferred.
Strong commercial and pragmatic acumen and an ability to influence and motivate others, including senior management, essential.
Experience in regulatory relationship management and internal stakeholder engagement is desirable; established external relationships with New Zealand government agencies and financial services industry bodies desirable.
Strongly values led and with high integrity are a must.
Experience leading small teams desirable - you will lead a team of 1.
