About the role
We are seeking an exceptional Head Chef to join our talented culinary team at the Sands Hotel Hokianga. This full-time position will be based in the vibrant Far North region, offering the opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise and lead a dedicated kitchen team.
What you'll be doing Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation and service. Collaborate with the management team to develop innovative seasonal menus that showcase local and regional ingredients. Effectively manage and mentor the kitchen team, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Maintain strict adherence to health, safety and hygiene regulations. Monitor inventory and food costs, optimising efficiency and profitability. Participate in staff training and development initiatives. Represent the hotel at industry events and engage with the local culinary community. What we're looking for Extensive experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a similar high-volume hospitality environment. Formal culinary training and qualifications, with a recognised chef's certification. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop your kitchen team. Exceptional culinary skills, with a deep understanding of flavour combinations, food presentation and current food trends. Excellent time management and organisational abilities, with a keen eye for detail. Passion for sourcing and utilising local, seasonal ingredients. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with the broader hotel team. What we offer
