Jellicoe St Bar & Eatery, based in Te Puke, is looking for an experienced Head Chef! We are looking for a Head Chef who is wanting growth and wants to work with an experienced team.This role has decision-making powers; therefore, relevant experience is vital. With a 200+ seat restaurant, we offer a wide range of European dishes with an exciting bar menu.You should be a talented Head Chef with experience in cooking European dishes and a la carte, with a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience at a reputable busy restaurant.You will also be carrying out meal planning (poultry, seafood, and meats) for functions and group events. You will also manage preparation and presentation.The successful candidate will be able to lead a kitchen, including menu design, food costing, and keeping exceptional practice of Food Hygiene/Health & Safety.ResponsibilitiesOrdering and stocktaking to plan and manage food costsCreate rosters and manage wage costsMonitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentationDemonstrating techniques and advising on cooking proceduresPreparing and cooking food to a consistently high standardTaking ownership of the food control plan and ensuring all team members understand the cleaning standards and processes within the kitchenEnsuring clear communication between the kitchen and front of houseCreate new menus seasonallySupport, train, and encourage junior chefs and kitchen handsMonitoring daily ordering and delivery of stock in the kitchenEnsure all menus are presented in a creative and appealing mannerRequirementsA passion for foodExcellent communication skillsStrong leadership and culinary skillsEnergy and enthusiasm to share with your teamProven experience in a fast-paced kitchen environmentAt least two years of relevant experienceHardworking individual who is able to work under pressure with a positive attitudeManaging and knowledge of food costMust have experience in European cuisineMotivated individual who encourages staff/staff training experienceOccupational health and safety knowledge of the kitchen areas where hazards are apparentContributing marketing ideas, events, promotions onsite and offsite to enhance the business's financial successReferences from previous workThe hours are 40 - 45 hours per week rostered across 7 days, with a minimum of 35 hours per week. Salary is between $30 to $34/hr.
